AAAC Road Running

Training Group
Coach Bob Dickson leads an endurance running group, welcoming all abilities and a wide range of ages.  They meet at Aberdeen Sports Village on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:30.  Monday is on the track, meeting trackside for a warm up followed by a 30-minute session.  Wednesday is a session of longer reps off the track, meeting at ASV reception.  This is usually a 30-minute session as well, depending on the route.

You can find Bob’s training schedules here.

If you are not a member of ASV, then you will need to pay for track sessions at reception Wednesdays you would only pay if you wanted to use the lockers, showers, etcetera.

Bob usually recommends newcomers try the track session on a Monday night and see how things go. You will be able to find him at the entrance to the track.  Should you try a few sessions and enjoy it, you should send an enquiry for membership details.

AAAC Championships
The AAAC 10k championship race is the BHGE 10k.

The AAAC half marathon championship race is the Stonehaven Half Marathon.

London Marathon
Aberdeen AAC is typically allocated two places for the London Marathon each year.  The club committee accepts requests from AAAC members for these places in November and awards the places at the December committee meeting.  Preference is generally given to members who regularly compete and/or volunteer for the club.  Email Brian at ClubManager@AberdeenAAC.co.uk for further details or to make a request for a place. (The pandemic has had an effect on the timescales and number of entries, but please feel free to make contact if you have any questions.)
