Senior members of the club committee are monitoring the advice from Scottish Athletics, Aberdeen Sports Village and other relevant bodies regarding COVID-19 on a daily basis.
Scottish Athletics latest statement: https://www.scottishathletics.org.uk/scottishathletics-and-coronavirus/ Aberdeen Sports Village latest statement: http://www.aberdeensportsvillage.com/news-events-lower/news/381-coronavirus-update It is important that individual club members adhere to the advice from the Government and the Health Service and act as required to minimise potential risk they may pose to those around them – avoid training sessions if necessary. Until we are advised otherwise, we intend to try and maintain normal club activities as far as we can, however, we must do so in a way that continues to adhere to health and safety requirements. Obviously, as exemplified this weekend with the cancellation of the fixture at ASV, there will be certain instances where it is decided the risk is too great to proceed with certain activities. The AAAC community spans many spectrums significantly. Most athletes may be relatively young and fit, however, a significant proportion of club volunteers – officials, coaches, administrators, etc. – may have greater concerns about continuing their routines and activities as normal. Additionally, there may come times where individual volunteers become unable to fulfil normal commitments due to potential strict requirements from their employer or in following the advice from the Government as it updates. There is therefore the potential for disruption to club training activities. The club will attempt to coordinate coaches as practically and reasonably as possible to enable training to take place. Individual members/squads will receive email communication if the cancellation of specific training sessions is necessary due to a lack of coach capacity. We will continue to update you as the local outlook develops. |
