New Volunteers!

To easy you gently from your comfort zone and give you the confidence to volunteer at AAAC-hosted competitions, your officials coordinator and her support team have arranged some taster sessions to share the basics of most of the roles of officials at track and field meetings.

The sessions will be led by knowledgeable and experienced officials in a relaxed and friendly environment.  No PowerPoint presentations.  No rule books.  No classroom.  A quick introduction on the first night, then most of the time will be spent on the track or field.  It might even be fun!

Sessions will be held on
5:30 – 6:30, Monday 11 June;
5:30 – 6:30, Monday 18 June;
5:30 – 6:30, Monday 25 June;
5:30 – 6:30, Monday 2 July.

The sessions will cover the basics of
Jumps: long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault;
Throws: shot put, hammer, discus, and javelin;
Starter and starter’s assistant;
Track events;
Timekeeping;
Declarations, seeding, call room, results, and announcing.

Meet a few minutes early in the athletics office by the indoor long jump pit for coffee/tea and biscuits.

Contact Emma at Officials@AberdeenAAC.co.uk for further details or let her know you would like to attend.  And, don’t forget the colouring competition to win a GB Athletics rucksack donated by Zoey Clark!
